After 44 years of patience and trying, the Saints have finally gotten to where so many teams have been, and every team strives to go.

Some fans on the University of Louisiana at Monroe campus may have been a little nervous at halftime when the score was 10-6 Indianapolis. The Saints fans held strong though, and in the end were rewarded with the final score reading 31-17 New Orleans.

"It has taken a while to sink in, not only that we made it to the Super Bowl, but that we beat a great team in the Colts at the Super Bowl," said Faris Maghoub, health management junior from West Monroe. "I finally just feel relief that we have won one and I still can't believe it."

While parties were being thrown all over campus at the dorms; other parties were happening at student houses all around the ULM campus.

At one of the bigger houses around ULM, several students gathered to watch in anticipation of the Saints first Super Bowl appearance and first Super Bowl win.
Several fraternity and sorority members and independents watched on in a cheering manner as the clock ran down, and the Saints team celebrated.

"It's a great victory for the state of Louisiana and for the city of New Orleans," said Ashley Robinson, a communications sophomore from Houston and a member of Alpha Omicron Pi. "And I'm proud to be living in Louisiana."

The armed forces students even celebrated the victory as well.

"Being out of state I loved watching the New Orleans Saints work their way towards victory," said Thomas Walters, Junior Social Studies Education major from Monroe, who is currently serving in the Louisiana National Guard and is a member of Kappa Sigma. "It was nice being home to see the Saints win the Super Bowl."

With this Super Bowl win, the state of Louisiana and the city of New Orleans can finally celebrate a renewed sense of life since the devastation Katrina caused.
