Senior Greg James will lead the secondary and will look to set records that will put him in Warhawk lore. James currently has 13 interceptions for his career, which is good enough for a tie for third place in ULM history and is the most of any active NCAA player. With his next two interceptions, he will share the school record that is currently held by Vic Minor, who ended his school career with 15 interceptions.
The Warhawks will play against the University of Texas Longhorns on Sept. 5 in Austin, Texas, before opening up at home the following against the Texas Southern University Tigers.
ULM will also travel to play two other Bowl Championship Series opponents: the Arizona State University Sun Devils on Sept. 19 and the University of Kentucky Wildcats on Oct. 24.
Malone Stadium will get its first taste of the national spotlight in two years when the Warhawks will face the Arkansas State University Red Wolves on Oct. 13, a game to be aired on ESPN2. The game will also be significance because it will be played on a Tuesday, instead of the usual Saturday
ULM will have three other home dates with the Florida International University Golden Panthers (the Oct. 3 homecoming game), the Sun Belt newcomer Western Kentucky Hilltoppers (Nov. 14), and Middle Tennessee (Nov. 28), while going on the road against the Florida Atlantic University Owls (Sept. 26), Troy (Oct. 31), the North Texas Mean Green (Nov. 7), and arch-rival Louisiana-Lafayette (Nov. 21).
