The ULM men's and women's basketball teams received All-Southland Conference recognition on March 5.

LaJeanna Howard, Lance Brasher and Tony Hooper were the Indians honored.

Howard, who was named to the All-Southland Conference second team after a stellar sophomore season, is the 25th Lady Indian player to receive the post-season award since 1983 when the conference was formed.

The Duncanville, Texas native led the team in scoring, assists, and free-throw percentage throughout the 2005-2006 season.

She is also ranked among the league's best in nine different categories including second in assist-turnover ratio, fifth in both assists and free-throw percentage.

Howard is the only Lady Indian to be selected to this year's list.

The SLC also honored Lance Brasher and Tony Hooper from the men's team.

Despite the Indian's failure to make the conference tournament, both players finished out the season with strong individual performances for ULM.

Brasher averaged 7.3 points per game this season for the Indians competing in 26 games.

The Alexandria walk-on improved his scoring to 9.7 points per game during conference play, including a career-high 22 points and 10 rebounds in the Indian's scalping of Nicholls State to post his first double-double at ULM.

Hooper was alongside Brasher in the backcourt, and was the only Indian to compete and start in every game this season.

Hooper led the team in scoring with 10.6 points per game in his freshman campaign.

He also led ULM in assists and ranked sixth in the SLC in steals.

Hooper nabbed his first career double-double in the Indians' loss to Lamar collecting 12 points and 14 assists in 35 minutes.

His 14 assists tied the second best single game assist total in ULM history.

The Houston, Texas native also made his mark at the charity stripe shooting 76.2 percent, good enough for 10th in the conference.

All three players will return to the court next year as both squads make the transition from the Southland to the SunBelt conference for the 2006-2007 season.
