I was very surprised by the way you handled one of your articles on this past week's paper. The article was about the Water-ski team bringing the National Championship title to ULM. I started reading the paper and I could not find anything on it. After going through it again, I found it. It was the smallest article in the paper and it was just a media release.
I don't mean to brag by any means, but winning the National Championships in any sport is not something that happens every day. We are one of the two teams in this entire University that has accomplished that. Not to mention that it was one of the most intense Nationals in years since we won by a difference of only five points, something that in the history of college water-skiing has never happened before.
I was really disappointed on your story and thought you guys could do a much better job. Maybe you could have interviewed some of the skiers, talked to the coach and gotten some pictures.
Great coverage on the Football team which by the way GO INDIANS!!!! I am so proud of them too. Great coverage on the ULM speech and debate teams, but what about the 18th time National Water-ski Champions out of 26? A little space of four by four without pictures, interviews, nothing!
I had to let you know how poor of a decision was to place a news release instead of a well done article for an event of such salience. Maybe us too, the Ski Team, deserve better news coverage.
