The Student Government Association plans forums, surveys and fun for the student body for the remaining of March and throughout April.

In Wednesday's SGA meeting, the senate discussed events for the last of March and the month of April that will be for the purpose of entertaining and informing students.

SGA issued applications to search for nominees for the 2002-2003 Student Involvement Scholarships on March 7.

Student Involvement Scholarships is a traditional scholarship that was an established endowment from the ULM student body. These scholarships are given to students who have excelled both academically and in extra curricular activities.

Students are nominated by the organizations they are members of. A selection committee will select the finalists. Once the finalist are chosen two people from the group (male and female) will be chosen as the Man and Woman of the Year.

The winners of the Student Involvement Scholarships will be announced at the SGA banquet.

A student forum is schedule for 4:30 p.m. March 26 in the Nursing Building Auditorium.

The forum will be for students who would like to express problems and concerns they are having in dorms, with policies, enrollment and security.

Representatives from different campus departments are invited to the forum to answer student questions.

Some of the representatives who may appear are: Thomas Rakes, interim president of ULM, Ron Steelman, food services, Mahmoud Saffari, dean of enrollment management and Charles McDonald, dean of student affairs. Other representatives from other departments could be added.

Michael Gray, SGA president said the forum will give students the opportunity to discuss what is bothering them.

"Students can come to the forum and get problems that they are having with the campus off their chest and receive answers to questions that they might have," Gray said.

The SGA plans to sponsor "Picnic in the Grove," a Spring Fever event, April 11.
