Every year as the Fourth of July approaches and fireworks stands begin to pop up in the areas surrounding Denton, law enforcement officials remind buyers of the potential legal troubles and physical dangers of pyrotechnics.

Officer Lenn Carter of the Denton Police Department said it is illegal to buy, possess, store or attempt to sell fireworks in Denton, but they can be used at least 5,000 feet away from Denton city limits in a county where fireworks are allowed.

The three-story house where Delta Lodge fraternity members used to party the night away became vacant in May 2007, and the Campus Christian Center bought the legendary party house in December.

Delta Lodge was one of the oldest independent fraternities in the nation and became known in Denton for hosting the Fry Street Fair, an annual music celebration of local bands as well as nationally known acts.
